It is the seventh inning of the Red Sox 27th spring game and the Sox trail, 3-2, and still have hit only 13 homers this spring. Mike Lowell is the only player with more than one homer.

Wily Mo Pena played left field today and struck out swinging three times. David Ortiz hit an RBI single. Tim Wakefield pitched six innings of six-hit ball, giving up three runs on six hits. He was relieved by Brendan Donnelly in the seventh. Donnelly worked a scoreless inning.

John ‘‘Way Back’’ Wasdin made an appearance for the Pirates in the sixth and caught Coco Crisp looking at a third strike. Crisp hit a double to right and walked in his first two at bats.

Daisuke Matsuzaka is scheduled to have lunch with members of the Boston media tomorrow at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Myers. Hearing that sportswriters were en route, folks at the CCC made arrangements to count the silverware.
