Timlin pushed back

By Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff

Dr. Thomas Gill examined Mike Timlin today and determined Timlin's left oblique was still tender and has pushed back the day when Timlin can resume throwing by two days.

Timlin was supposed to begin throwing again tomorrow after suffering a setback. He was shut down for a week, but Gill determined there was still some tenderness.

The longer is takes for Timlin to recover the less likely it is that he may not start the season. But Terry Francona said he was not concerned about the start of the season and wanted to make sure Timlin was good for the long haul.
