« Lester update | Main | Leave it to Lugo »

April 27, 2007

Long time coming...

By Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff

It's been a while.

Two hundred forty at-bats, to be exact. Julio Lugo, in the biggest home run drought on the Red Sox, just whacked a hanger from Scott Proctor over the fence in left field for his first home run of the season (and first since July 22, 2006). Lugo seemed to stumble coming around first base, wasn't sure where the ball went, and retreated to first before being told by the umpires that the ball had, in fact, left the field of play.

He made it around the rest of the bases with no trouble.

It's 6-4, Sox.
