Lester has forearm cramp

By Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff

PAWTUCKET, R.I. - We'll have a more detailed update later, but a source close to Jon Lester said that his three-inning, 63-pitch outing was due to "minor cramping in his left forearm."

Lester, who scheduled to throw between 90-100 pitches against the Indianapolis Indians, apparently suffered from discomfort in the forearm area and was not able to snap off his pitches particularly his breaking pitch and change-up which he threw few of.

The injury did not appear to be serious.

Lester allowed two runs and three hits in what was his final rehab start. The team will have to make a move by Friday. He will likely be optioned to Pawtucket.
