TORONTO - Tim Wakefield pitched a gem for seven innings and got support from Hideki Okajima and J.C. Romero in five-hitting the Toronto Blue Jays, 8-0, last night at Rogers Centre.

The Sox took five out of six on this road trip, their only loss coming to Johan Santana. They now host the Baltimore Orioles this weekend at Fenway where Julian Tavarez faces Brian Burres, Curt Schilling opposes Steve Trachsel and Josh Beckett opposes Jeremy Guthrie. How do you like your chances there?

The Sox scored six runs in the third inning off Roy Halladay to put this game away early.

A three-run homer by Mike Lowell accounted for half of them while Kevin Youkilis, Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz also knocked in runs.

Wakefield's ERA is now a league-best 1.79 to go along with a 4-2 record after allowing no runs and striking out five over seven innings.

Pacing the Sox' 13-hit attack: Kevin Youkilis 3-for-5, 2 RBI; David Ortiz, 2-for-4, 2RBI; Maqnny Ramirez, 2-for-4, one RBI; Mike Lowell, 1-for-4, 3RBI; and Alex Cora, 2-for-4.

This game was played in 2:18.

Thank goodness for getaway days.
