Sox top Braves, 6-3
By Christopher L. Gasper, Globe Staff
The Red Sox closed out their 10-game homestand with a 6-3 rain-delayed victory over the Atlanta Braves. The Sox ended the homestand with a 7-3 mark. Triple A call-up Kason Gabbard earned the win, striking out a career-high seven over five-plus innings of work. Kevin Youkilis went 3 for 3 with a walk, a run scored and a solo homer. He finished a triple shy of the cycle. Jonathan Papelbon, who allowed a run in the ninth, ended the game by striking out Andruw Jones, who represented the tying run. It was the fifth time in the game that Jones struck out -- all swinging.
