Bradford keeps O's ahead

By Daniel Malloy, Globe Correspondent

Chad Bradford came on to get the Orioles out of the eighth, with a little help from his defense.

Nick Markakis started with a nifty play to get Manny Ramirez. Manny sliced a ball foul down the right field line, but Markakis dove into the stands and emerged with the catch -- miraculously without getting any beer spilled on him. Miguel Tejada followed it up with a nice backhanded play at short to get Kevin Youkilis. Tejada then got Mike Lowell on a routine groundout, with Lowell slamming his helmet down on the basepath afterwards in frustration. Remember you Little Leaguers out there: Always be good sports.

Manny Delcarmen is on for the ninth. Here are your final numbers for Josh Beckett: 8 innings pitched, 9 hits, 5 earned runs, 2 walks, 6 strikeouts. He threw 110 pitches, 76 for strikes. It remains 5-3 Orioles.
