New kids on the block

The Red Sox announced that they signed their first round draft pick, Nick Hagadone, today. He's a lefty out of the University of Washington.

They also signed eight amateur free agents from various countries: Australian, Chinese Taipei, Dominican Republic, and Venezuela. The most notable of those is Michael Almanzar, a third baseman out of the Dominican. Most of them signed contracts for 2008.

Rafael Espinosa, SS, Dominican Republic
Joantoni Garcia, SS, Venezuela
Javier Gutierrez, OF, Venezuela
Che-Hsuan Lin, OF, Chinese Taipei (contract for 2007)
Roman Mendez, RHP, Dominican Republic
Jesus Rojas, C, Venezuela
