Roberts is raking
By Daniel Malloy, Globe Correspondent
Orioles second baseman Brian Roberts is killing Boston tonight. After leading off the game with a home run, Roberts doubled off the bottom of the Monster in the third to bring home Jay Payton and give the visitors their second run of the night.
The 5-9, 180-pound Roberts -- who spent his first two collegiate seasons at North Carolina, my alma mater -- came into the game just 1 for 5 lifetime against Josh Beckett, but is toasting the Texan tonight.
Roberts -- who also had a stolen base -- came home along with Corey Patterson on a single up the middle by former Red Sox Kevin Millar, and it's 4-0 O's as we head to the bottom of the third.
