Today's lineups

By Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff

Terry Francona said in his pre-game media session that he had a long chat with Julio Lugo this morning.

Francona said he waited until this morning so he could speak to Lugo logically rather than in the heat of the moment after Lugo was caught stealing in the 8th inning Friday night with Kevin Youkilis at the plate with two outs.

"He just tried to make something happen and it wasn't there," Francona said. "It allowed us to talk a little bit." Francona said Lugo might play tomorrow night.

Also out today was Mike Lowell. Francona said he wanted to give Eric Hinske a chance to play (he's at first and Youkilis is at third). Hinske is 0-for-4 against Kameron Loe.

Apparently there was some discussion on placing Coco Crisp on the DL. Francona said "It's a hard call for us." Francona was meeting with Sox assistant GM Jed Hoyer this morning so perhaps there's something on the way.
