Updates from downstairs
Just got back from the clubhouse with a few updates for all of you...
It's still raining here in Cleveland, with the tarp on the field. Not exactly sure what the weather forecast is, since it's been wrong each of the days we've been here in Ohio.
Neither Mike Lowell nor Julio Lugo is in the starting lineup tonight. Manager Terry Francona said he gave each of them the choice of whether to play tonight or Friday night in Tampa. Each chose to have tonight off.
Brendan Donnelly threw out to 90 feet today. The team is trying to keep him from being too aggressive too early as he tries to come back.
As for Joel Pineiro, the decision to accept the assignment to Pawtucket surprised a few of his teammates. But, according to Francona, "starting was kind of in his heart." Pineiro will try to build up to starter-type innings in Pawtucket.
Almost forgot one of the more amusing moments of the afternoon. I was talking to Wily Mo Pena about crashing into the wall last night to take away the hit from Casey Blake when he looked over at the big screen TV on which someone was playing Mike Tyson's Punch Out. Pena looked at Tyson and motioned to himself. Apparently he saw something of a resemblance.
Think he packs a punch like Tyson?
