Markakis goes deep

By Daniel Malloy, Globe Correspondent

For the second straight night, the Orioles have taken an early lead with a first-inning solo homer. This time it was Nick Markakis taking Julian Tavarez the opposite way for a bomb into the first row of Monster seats. It was Markakis's 11th home run of the year. Kevin Millar followed with a double high off the wall, but Miguel Tejada flied out to right.

It's 1-0 Orioles heading to the bottom of the first.
