Tampa takes early lead

By Daniel Malloy, Globe Correspondent

Dice-K, who entered the game with a 1.26 ERA in two starts against the Devil Rays, got into some early trouble and is in a 1-0 hole after the first half-inning at Fenway.

Akinori Iwamura started the game with a single to right and Carl Crawford blooped one to center, bringing Iwamura around to third. Crawford then stole second, putting runners at seocond and third with no outs.

Matsuzaka got B.J. Upton to strike out on a slider in the dirt, but the next batter -- ex-Red Sox Carlos Pena -- drove in Iwamura on a groundout to first. Delmon Young ended the inning on a groundout to short.
