Early to arrive

By Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff

BALTIMORE - Just said hello to a couple of tour groups that just went through a Camden Yards tour. Mostly Boston folks.

Terry Francona has been out at first base with Brandon Moss instructing him on how to play first base. There's no glove or ball, just plain old instruction, mostly going over footwork and technique. At least that's the way it looks from the press box. We'll find out more during Francona's pre-game press briefing on whether the Sox are thinking about converting the outfielder or just adding another position to his repertoire.

Sox publicist John Blake, also an early arriver along with the ProJo's Steve Krasner, has informed me that batters are 1 for their last 45 against Jonathan Papelbon. In a word, unhittable.
