Ellsbury's back in action
Though he broke up his hitting streak by going 0-for-4 yesterday, Jacoby Ellsbury got back on track with a single to left field, the first hit off Dustin McGowan today. The single led off the fourth inning.
Ellsbury advanced to second on Dustin Pedroia's ground out to second base.
But David Ortiz was out on a fly ball to right field, leaving it up to Mike Lowell with two outs in the inning.
And Lowell converted, his double bouncing in and out of the glove of left fielder Adam Lind. That scored Ellsbury from second, making the score 2-1, though the Sox weren't able to bring Lowell in from third.
If you think Lowell has been scoring runners quite a bit this season -- especially in key situations -- his batting average is .364 with men on base, .365 with runners in scoring position.
