The national weather service is forecasting a chance of showers in Boston today, mainly before 3:00 p.m., so this afternoon's nationally-televised showdown between 18-game winners Josh Beckett and Chien-Ming Wang should not be affected.

Today marks the first time that a pair of pitchers who share the major league lead in wins have faced each other on September 1 or later since September 8, 1998, when 18-game winners Pedro Martinez of Red Sox and David Cone of Yankees met at Fenway Park. Cone was a 3-2 winner (Source: Elias Sports Bureau).

Eric Hinske, who is 10-for-22 off Wang with two homers, gets the start for the Sox in left.

Information from today's Red Sox media notes was used in this report.
