The Red Sox used a little two-out magic to take a 2-0 lead after the first. David Ortiz started things off by taking a ball the other way off the Wall for a double, his 52nd of the season, giving him the fourth most in club history. His 51 doubles as a DH is a major league record, passing Edgar Martinez's 50-double effort in 1995. Mike Lowell then drove in his 117th RBI of the season with a line drive single to right. Next was the suddenly hot J.D. Drew, who doubled down the right field line. When the ball took a weird bounce off the side wall, skipping past Jason Kubel, Lowell was able to come home. It's 2-0 Sox after one inning at the Fens.
