Gone, baby, gone
With Justin Speier still pitching, Julio Lugo lined a single into left field. Running, he made it to second on what would otherwise have been a double-play ball off the bat of Dustin Pedroia. Instead, Lugo stood on second with one out in the ninth inning of a 3-3 ballgame.
Kevin Youkilis struck out swinging, and the Angels walked David Ortiz intentionally yet again with first base open.
That left Manny Ramirez up with two outs. Home run, Ramirez. Red Sox win, 6-3.
Sox up, 2-0. And out to California.
