That pitch hit Garrett Atkins on the shoulder, and bounced straight up and back. Looked like it might have stung just a little bit.

Perhaps Daisuke Matsuzaka was a bit thrown off by his (unsuccessful) trip to the plate. He struck out swinging, stranding Julio Lugo on second base.
