Hurdle shakes up Rox

Posted by Michael Vega, Globe Staff October 27, 2007 05:42 PM

Rockies manager Clint Hurdle shook up his lineup for Game 3 of tonight's World Series by moving up second baseman Kazuo Matsui to the lead-off position and inserting Cory Sullivan, a left-handed hitter, for Willy Taveras at center field. Sullivan will bat eighth in the order.

``We're revising the lineup that has shown success and had success through the month of September and early in the playoffs,'' Hurdle said. ``I don't believe you ever want to put a lineup at this point in the season where the guys go, `What?' We have options and I'm fortunate as a manager that we have enough good players that it gives me a number of different options.''

And so, after surviving some Internet connectivity issues on this resplendent autumn afternoon from the Mile High City, to the lineups we go . . .

1. Kazuo Matsui, 2B
2. Troy Tulowitzki, SS
3. Matt Holiday, LF
4. Todd Helton, 1B
5. Garrett Atkins, 3B
6. Brad Hawpe, RF
7. Yorvit Torrealba, C
8. Cory Sullivan, CF
9. Josh Fogg, RHP
