Johnny!

NEW YORK - Johnny Damon has just saved the Yankees for now.

He stroked a three-run homer in the fifth off Jake Westbrook giving the Yankees a 5-3 lead.

The Yankees entered the inning trailing 3-1. After Jason Giambi struck out, Matusi singled, Cano doubled and Cabrera singled to left scoring Matsui. Up came Johnny. He had homered in his first at-bat of the series against C.C. Sabathia and then gone down hill from there. Tonight he singled in his first two at-bats. He got hold of a 2-0 fastball and yanked it to right field with two aboard.

The Stadium went wild.

Phillip Hughes is still on in relief of the injured Roger Clemens (strained left hamstring).
