Lester's line

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff October 28, 2007 09:33 PM

So far Jon Lester has given up just two hits (both doubles) and two walks over four scoreless innings. That's pretty impressive, considering his last start came on Sept. 26. (Granted, Aaron Cook's last time was on Aug. 10, and he's given up only one run.)

But Lester has shown an ability to get himself out of trouble over the first four innings, plus his pitch count is at a still managable 68 after four. High pitch counts have spelled trouble -- and early exits -- for Lester repeatedly over his career.
