Ortiz, Lowell to play Game 3

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff October 26, 2007 06:30 PM

DENVER -- Terry Francona did give a couple of updates on the Game 3 lineup this afternoon, the first for the Red Sox in Coors Field this World Series.

David Ortiz will play first base tomorrow, with Mike Lowell staying at his normal position at third base. That means Kevin Youkilis will start out tomorrow on the bench, though the hope (for the Red Sox) would be that the team would have a lead late, which would enable them to make the defensive switch.

As for the lineup, the plan is for Jacoby Ellsbury to leadoff with Dustin Pedroia hitting second.

"But," Francona said, "I reserve the right to change that tonight over dinner, but I think that's probably what we'll do."
