Out of the jam

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff October 28, 2007 09:05 PM

Two important things just happened:

1) Jon Lester got out of the second inning without a run scoring, after Todd Helton led off with a double. He ended up stranding runners on first and third base when Yorvit Torrealba grounded out to shortstop Julio Lugo.

2) Torrealba grounded out. Though that seems to be repetitive, it matters. Because Aaron Cook, the pitcher, was next. So instead of Cook being the possible third out in the second inning, Cook will be up first in the third. That helps Lester.
