Posted by Gary Dzen, Boston.com Staff October 12, 2007 06:34 PM

Former Senator George Mitchell's steroid investigation will link big-name baseball players to performance enhancing drugs when Mitchell's report is released between Oct. 31 and the end of the year, ESPN's Buster Olney is reporting, citing officials within Major League Baseball.

In a conference call today, officials were told by Tom Carlucci, a lawyer for MLB, that the report is going to be "salacious", according to Olney.

You can read Olney's complete story here.
