Schill on the Indians
In his weekly interview this morning on Boston sports radio station WEEI, Curt Schilling shared a few thoughts on facing the Cleveland Indians in the ALCS.
"It's going to be a heck of a series because I think it's gonna be about pitching. With [C.C] Sabathia and [Fausto] Carmona and those guys, but it's a lineup that can score, that can hit. But it's a lineup that can be pitched to. My thought going into the second round was no matter who we play, both these lineups had the ability to be pitched to if you execute a game plan. ..."
Like some fans around Red Sox Nation, Schilling has had just about enough of the Yankees and looks forward to facing some fresh faces in the Indians.
"The whole Yankee thing, is kind of boring," said Schilling. "Not boring in that it sucks, but it's just like [you've done it], and it just kind of makes everything else anti-climatic. No matter if it's a two-game series or a best-of-seven [with the Yankees], when you get done, it takes days to get over the fact that you just got done with it. "
More from Schilling:
"No question C.C. has quietly become one of the top two or three guys in baseball and he's been that good for a couple of years now. His command is now getting to the point where he walked like 20-some guys this year, struck out like 200."
"Carmona, I don't know, I didn't see it coming. But he threw that game against us this year, then I watched him in the Yankee [game], he's unbelievable. He's just filthy. Power pitching is a huge plus in the postseason, so it's definitely going to be a huge challenge."
