Sox take Game 1

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff October 25, 2007 12:04 AM

With little suspense, the Red Sox took the first game of the World Series by a 13-1 score. Josh Beckett took the win as the Sox bats beat up on the Rockies pitching early and often. The much-maligned Eric Gagne finished up the game for the Sox by pitching a clean ninth inning, punctuated by a swinging strikeout of Brad Hawpe to end it.

We'll be back for Game 2 tomorrow as Curt Schilling attempts to bring the Sox up by two games on the home turf before the series shifts to Colorado.
