CLEVELAND - The good news is Chien-Ming Wang's sinker is working fine. The bad news is Paul Garko just trickled a single up the middle, just passed Robinson Cano's diving attempt to score Travis Hafner with the tying run here in the bottom of the first.

Wang started the game hitting Grady Sizemore with a pitch. But he then induced a double-play grounder to Asdrubal Cabrera. But he then walked Hafner and allowed a single to right by Victor Martinez setting the stage for Gargo's RBI.

With two on and two out, Jhonny Peralta ran the count to 3-2 in this very noisy Jacobs Field. Peralta fouled off three pitches before taking a walk to load the bases.

Fan favorite Kenny Lofton came up - the fans chanting his name.

He delivered a two-run single. But Peralta was caught off second to end the inning.

Nonetheless, it gave the Tribe a 3-1 lead after one. Wang has already thrown 29 pitches.
