A team would have to come out of nowhere to sweep Mike Lowell off his feet at this stage of negotiations with the Red Sox, according to a major league source. And even if they do, would Lowell want to play someplace he wasn't completely comfortabe?

The chances are increasing rapidly that the Sox' three-year offer might be good enough to get a deal done. We thought the Dodgers might be one of the teams possibly willing to go four years, but we were just informed by a major league source familiar with their business that they likely won't go beyond three years either.

This deal could get done soon.
