Cashman arrives

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff November 5, 2007 04:56 PM

ORLANDO - Brian Cashman had just arrived here for the GM meetings. He was swarmed by 8 million reporters, but went up to his room without much to say.

Cashman should be the main focus of the national media as he tries to rebuild the Yankees with a new manager (Joe Girardi) and a team that will likely not have the best player in the game - Alex Rodriguez. Cashman has other big issues including the re-signing of Jorge Posada, Mariano Rivera and hoping Andy Pettitte comes back.

Cashman also needs to find a third baseman, but he won't give up any of his top prospects for Florida third baseman Miguel Cabrera. The White Sox' Joe Crede could be on his radar.
