Pedroia will speak from Arizona State

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff November 12, 2007 12:03 PM

If and when Dustin Pedroia becomes the American League Rookie of the Year later today, he's expected to hold his press conference at Arizona State University.

That's where Pedroia was drafted in the 2004 June amateur draft as the 65th overall pick by the Red Sox, who did not have a No. 1 pick that season. Taken right ahead of Pedroia with the 64th pick was Hunter Pence by the Houston Astros.

Pedroia recently underwent hamate bone surgery to his left hand. It's the same surgery Wily Mo Pena had while with the Red Sox. The bone was removed and Pedroia should be ready to go by spring training.
