Field staffs announced

The Red Sox today announced the 2008 field staffs for the team's minor league affiliates. Four new individuals have been hired for 2008: Kevin Boles (manager at Single-A Greenville); Rich Sauveur (pitching coach at Triple-A Pawtucket); Billy McMillon (hitting coach at Single-A Greenville); and Luis Lopez (hitting coach at Single-A Lowell). Six other coaches have been assigned to different clubs in the Boston organization.

  • Pawtucket (Triple-A, International League)

    Manager: Ron Johnson
    Pitching Coach: Rich Sauveur—Joins Boston organization after five seasons as a pitching coach in the Milwaukee organization, the last three at Double-A Huntsville
    Hitting Coach: Russ Morman—Moves to Pawtucket after four seasons at Double-A Portland
    Trainer: Greg Barajas

  • Portland (Double-A, Eastern League)
    Manager: Arnie Beyeler
    Pitching Coach: Mike Cather
    Hitting Coach: Dave Joppie—Moves to Portland after two Single-A seasons, 2007 at Lancaster
    Trainer: Brad Pearson

  • Lancaster (Single-A, California League)
    Manager: Chad Epperson
    Pitching Coach: Mike Griffin—Moves to Lancaster after five seasons at Triple-A Pawtucket
    Hitting Coach: Carlos Febles—Moves to Lancaster after spending 2007 at Single-A Lowell
    Trainer: Jon Jochim

  • Greenville (Single-A, South Atlantic League)
    Manager: Kevin Boles—Joins Boston organization after four seasons managing in the Minnesota organization, the last two at Single-A Fort Myers…Has 386-358 career record as minor league manager.
    Pitching Coach: Bob Kipper—Moves to Greenville after spending 2007 at Lancaster
    Hitting Coach: Billy McMillon—Will make professional coaching debut…Was an outfielder in the majors with Florida, Philadelphia, Detroit, and Oakland.
    Trainer: Paul Buchheit

  • Lowell (Single-A, New York-Penn League)
    Manager: Gary DiSarcina
    Pitching Coach: Walter Miranda—Moves to Lowell after spending 2007 at Single-A Greenville
    Hitting Coach: Luis Lopez—Will make his professional coaching debut…Was an infielder in the majors with San Diego, New York Mets, Milwaukee, Baltimore, and Cincinnati…Was infield coordinator for Puerto Rico Baseball Academy
    Trainer: Brandon Henry

  • Gulf Coast (Rookie, Gulf Coast League)
    Manager: Dave Tomlin
    Pitching Coach: Goose Gregson
    Hitting Coach: U.L. Washington
    Trainer: TBA
