Series trophy to visit Portland
The trophy tour continues.
The Red Sox will bring the 2007 World Series trophy to Portland, Maine on Friday, Dec. 14.
According to a Red Sox press release, the trophy will be on display and available for public viewing from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m at Hadlock Field, home of the Red Sox’ Double-A affiliate Portland Sea Dogs. A press conference will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Portland room at Hadlock Field featuring Governor John Baldacci, Mayor Ed Suslovic, and Sea Dogs’ President and General Manager Charlie Eshbach.
The Red Sox will also bring the trophy to the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center at 5:30 p.m. Slugger the Sea Dog will accompany the trophy for that visit.
“Maine is happy to once again host the trophy of the World Champion Boston Red Sox,” Governor Baldacci said. “We appreciate the willingness of the Red Sox organization to bring the trophy to Portland and look forward to hosting them again in early 2008 in the Bangor area. It is a tremendous thrill for Maine’s many Red Sox fans to get an up-close look at the team’s second World Series trophy in four years. We are honored that Maine fans will be able to see it without leaving the state.”
