Cervasio on her way out
Expressing a need to be closer to her family, Red Sox field reporter Tina Cervasio is leaving her post at NESN effective at the end of March.
“These last two years working with NESN and covering the Red Sox have been both a privilege and an honor,” Cervasio said. “At this time in my career, I have chosen to pursue other opportunities that would afford me the chance to be closer to my family. I want to thank everyone that I have worked with, both at NESN and the Red Sox. It was an extraordinary experience that I will never forget and will look back upon with great pride. I would also like to thank my colleagues in the Boston media who made the rigors of covering sports in New England a joy.”
Cervasio joined NESN in 2006, when she finished a two-year stint as a reporter for WCBS in New York. While Cervasio's husband remained in New Jersey pursuing his own career goals, Cervasio found herself splitting time between the two cities often whenever she had the chance.
Neither she, nor NESN, revealed her immediate career plans, but a report from the Inside Track earlier this month rumored that she might be headed to New York's Fox 5.
“Tina expressed to us a need to be closer to her family and travel less,” NESN vice president of programming and executive producer Joel Feld said. “We are appreciative of everything she has done for NESN and wish her the very best.”

The best wishes to Tina and her family! {Just hope she wasn't video taping the game plan from NESN} Sorry, that was in bad taste, but with all this stuff going on I couldn't help it. Anyways,I would do the the same to be near my family.
GOOD LUCK, TINA
PS We always knew you were a Yankees fan

The game and post game show are pale pale pale, I won't be watching post game show now that Tina is gone.
Hey Tina,
I miss you already.
You were part of the whole experience last year. I looked forward to your comments and interviews. You are very articulate. and you had a good knowledge of the players and the game.
Best of luck.
We had no idea that Tina had left until we started watching this year's broadcasts. The games just aren't the same without her. She added so much to each show. Although we love Don and Jerry, Tina added a special touch to the games. I'm sure they miss her too.
I agree totally with balymu. I miss Tina's pluck and ability to get that interview at the end of the games. I'm afraid Rachel Mae just doesn't cut it. She could be selling cars.
Tina will be missed by all loyal Sox fans. Good luck to her in her future endeavors. FYI Mike -its Hazel Mae and she does cut it!!!
When Tina gave me her autograph I asked her if I could have her job when she was done with it. She answered "yes". I wish she had let me know she was leaving. I spend thousands to follow the Red Sox, and she got paid! The broadcasts are not the same without her.
Will they be looking to replace Tina? Kathryn Tappen certainly isn't the answer.
I have missed Tina's great smile and wish her the best. I would not want to be away from my family either. She made the right choice... family.
Tina...you were such a bright spot before after and duing all the Red Sox games...you made a job seem like a family of friends having fun night after night...informative and funny and became part of out Fenway Family...it hasn't been the same without you and NO ONE can ever take your place...
GOOD LUCK to you and your family and I hope that one day you will return to us and what we considered your home with the Fenway Faithful...
We miss you Tina...;o)...
Tina, you are missed. Know your time with Red Sox Nation was appreciated. New York is lucky to gain your talent, charm, and smile. Gob Bless.....
I would have told my husband he had to move!!
Tina was OK, but she is not baseball, at least not Boston baseball.
My husband and I talk every night about the games not being the same. We miss Tina so very much but do wish her the very best of luck. Husband and family do come first. \
None of the new reporters come close to doing the job the way Tina did it.
Tina who?? have you seen Heidi Watney! I can't wait until summer is here and she is out there in the stands all hot and sweaty.
Theo must have been at the heart of that trade.
Tina was great. I miss her. I agree with Susan Jay, she should have had her husband move;)
Tina you were fun to watch and surely you are missed..You were a great part of our Red Sox Nation and it won't be the same without you. Best of Luck to you and your family.
Heidi Watney is far superior to Tina. Can we safely assume that her husband had something to do with this move to NY. Doesn't Tina know that she now a "TRAITOR" Red Sox Nation doesn't accept reporters going to NY, just like we don't accept players doing the same.
Heidi is no Tina Cervasio. And could not provide the charisma that Tina did on her best day. Best wishes to you for your future success Tina, You have a bright future ahead of you. Bostions loss.
Tina, we miss you. You had a wonderful approach to the game and the players. I think we could sense a certain respect between you and the players you interviewed. You are missed. Heidi Watney might turn out to be an OK replacement some day, but right now she's just another piece of blond "eye candy" that doesn't give the impression she knows or cares as much about baseball the way Red Sox nation expects. Good luck Tina.
You guys have to be kidding me! Heidi is much softer on the eyes and Tina always seemed a bit too "look at me" during interviews and reports.
My wife and I watch our fair share of NESN and we both agree on this.
I do respect Tina for choosing family over her career.
Mike B, you are a perfect example of the kind of "pretender" sports fan I'm having an issue with. It doesn't matter who's "much softer on the eyes" it should be all about who knows the players and understands the game. Maybe Heidi will catch on eventually, but right now, based entirely on BASEBALL knowledge, there's a big drop-off from Tina to Heidi. Gotta admit though, if I were a "pink-hat" I'd probably think Heidi were better because she's cute.
Tina was tremendous in her role ..... the best smile ever .... and what energy !! Heidi will also be very good .... just hope that she develops all the warmth the Tina expressed. Tina had great insight and knowledge .... am sure the Heidi has similar strengths. Life with the Sox will go on. In a great way. One more step in the ongoing great tradition !!
I agree.....I miss Tina's smile.....She always looked so happy doing her job........Hazel Mae, Rachel Mae .......What's the difference? She looks a little like Johnny Damon in drag anyway's.....
TINA WAS A NATURAL, NOTHING PUT ON ABOUT HER, SHE WAS DOWN TO EARTH AND COMFORTABLE WITH HERSELF. A MILLION DOLLAR SMILE THAT WAS REAL AND NOT PUT ON AT ALL. I AM VERY SORRY SHE HAS LEFT BUT SHE DID THE RIGHT THING AS FAR AS FAMILY GOES.
