Daisuke sighting

Posted by Gordon Edes, Globe Staff February 10, 2008 11:53 AM

The Sox training complex is usually deserted the Sunday before the opening of camp, but not this year. Daisuke Matsuzaka, trailed by five TV cameras and seven or eight Japanese print reporters, dropped in for a short workout of less than a hour, his baseball activity pretty much limited to a light game of catch.

WBZ Radio's peripatetic Jonny Miller was there--Jonny is at the facility more than the groundskeepers and security guards--and said that Daisuke said he'd come early because the season opens earlier, with the trip to Japan, though there apparently is still some question he'll make the trip because of his wife's pregnancy. Jonny also asked him about Curt Schilling; Daisuke, with one of the reporters translating, said the rest of the staff is just going to have to pick up the slack.

  1. Peripatetic? Way to pull out the ole thesaurus on that one.

  1. This just in: My Little League board of directors met to review equipment, rule changes, and field schedules. No reporters attended. Elsewhere, there are reports of paint drying.

    How desperate are we?
