Play ball!

The Red Sox get back on the field for the first time since Game 4 of the World Series this afternoon, albeit against a bunch of local college kids in a doubleheader exhibition.

They'll face Boston College at 1:05 p.m. at City of Palms Park in Fort Myers, Fla. and will take on Northeastern at 6:05 p.m. There's no TV coverage of today's games, but you can listen to the nightcap on 850 WEEI AM. We'll also post results and photos from each game here on Boston.com. The Sox kick off their Grapefruit League schedule tomorrow night against the Twins (7:05 p.m.).

    IT'S GOOD TO HAVE BASEBALL AGAIN.IT IS A RIGHT OF PASSAGE IN NEW ENGLAND.I AM GOING TO BE 60 IN MAY AND STILL FEEL THE SAME ABOUT SPRING TRAINING AS I DID AS A KID. LET'S ALL JUST ENJOY THE GAMES AND REMEMBER ABOVE ALL...DON'T BASE ANYTHING ON SPRING TRAINING GAMES. WHAT THE PLAYERS DO HERE IS GET READY.WAIT UNTIL THE LAST WEEK OF SPRING TRAINING AND YOU'LL SEE WHERE THE PLAYERS STEP THINGS UP.SO SIT BACK AND RELAX.BASEBALL IS JUST BEGINING.
