Report: Cora arrested

Posted by Steve Silva, Boston.com Staff February 1, 2008 02:50 PM

Red Sox second baseman Alex Cora was jailed briefly Wednesday in Flordia on a charge he failed to appear in court in 2001 for a probation violation connected to a 1999 DUI charge, according to a report in the Palm Beach Post.

According to the Post report, arrest records show Cora turned himself in Wednesday and was released after he posted $20,000 bond.

Cora has been a member of the Red Sox since joining the team in a trade with the Indians in 2005, serving primarily as a backup infielder. Cora re-signed with the Red Sox as a free agent after the 2006 season.
