Schill, Paps, Youk in the house

Posted by Gordon Edes, Globe Staff February 14, 2008 10:33 AM

Curt Schilling was among the early arrivals at camp this morning. He drove up with his son, and the security guard didn't immediately recognize him in his glasses and an evidently more sveltte physique.

Jonathan Papelbon has arrived as well, and addressed the media. A still-goateed Kevin Youkilis has also been spotted playing catch with catcher George Kottaras.

Terry Francona and Theo Epstein are supposed to talk later this morning as well. We don't know if the injured Schilling will address the masses.

We'll have more later from the Globe's Amalie Benjamin. All Red Sox pitchers and catchers must report by 5 p.m. They'll undergo physicals Friday, and the first official workout is Saturday.

(Correction: Due to a miscommunication, we erroneously reported earlier that David Ortiz had arrived in Fort Myers. He has not.)

  1. I'll tell you one thing....Schillin' is looking in great shape. I think all that extra working out F'd up his shoulder, should of put himself on the donuts and beer diet again and saved himself till the season

  1. If the sox repeat, it would not be the first time in franchise history. The sox won back-to-back in 1915 and 1916 to the Philadelphia Phillies and Brooklyn Robins respectively. You check the franchise encyclopedia at here:
