Sox awaiting word on Odalis Perez

The Sox took a run at free-agent lefty Odalis Perez, offering him a minor-league deal, but it appeared today that he will choose to sign with Washington. Perez would have given the club a little depth in their starting corps, but he's been brutal the last couple of years, posting ERAs of 6.20 and 5.57.

Terry Francona had dinner last night with Sox ownership, but his contract situation remains unresolved.
