The Red Sox just released the following statement regarding Curt Schilling:

Curt Schilling was examined by Red Sox doctors in January after he reported feeling right shoulder discomfort. Curt has started a program of rest, rehabilitation and shoulder strengthening in an attempt to return to pitching.

  1. Would surgery at this point in his career be pointless?

  1. I guess we'll just see what happens between now and when spring training picks up. I think surgery this late in a career would be pointless, and if it's that serious, he's just better off retiring. Of course, I don't want to see him stop pitching yet, but it might be the only thing to do. And if he doesn't get back to the team until mid-July... is he really worth $8 million-plus?

  1. It's a Bank Heist by Schilling . Grab another 8 mill from the sox and run. Why wouldn't they check him out? What a joke, I've lost respect for you Curt, make that curt. What a joke!

  1. All surgery would do is make him miss the rest of the year and Schilling already said this would be his last year.

  1. Bittersweet news. Buchholz takes a turn every five days, but Schill could be done for most of the year. And if he does come back late in the season, will he be effective? I guess that's the million dollar question.

  1. Well now! The Red Sox made a commitment to the young bucks for now and the future, otherwise they would have gotten Santana or even another third starter. Anyway, I think the Sox have enough in the pipeline to make this a very interesting year. We are going to be very competetive and maybe even a front runner. Lester is ripe for a great year and so on down the line. Keep the faith NATION.

  1. A refusal to surgery almost sounds like the desire for the "Clemens schedule".

  1. Are you trying to tell me that schiling shoulder was not hurting when he signed an 8 million dollar contract? The guy knew and to call him a stand up guy is a joke. We should call him a thief. No big deal but this does hurt the red sox. They were not able to go out and get another veteran Picher and now they are going to have to rely on Bucholtz and Lester. Which is ok, but I'd rather one veteran pitcher in the mix.

PLEASE NEVER AGAIN CALL THIS GUY A STANDUP GUY - HE IS STEELING FROM THE RED SOX. HE KNEW HE WAS INJURED AND STILL SIGNED THE 8 MILLION CONTRACT

  1. Hey, let's not be disrespectful. Some of you 'fans' kill me! Remember what the man has done for the team.....

You may think Curt is a showboat, but I like and respect the man. He talks a good game, but more importantly, he also delivers.......all the time.

    Do not disrespect him.
