Casey active; Dusty Brown optioned
Apparently Sean Casey's neck is doing a bit better this afternoon. Instead of being inactive for today's game, along with Tim Wakefield and Mike Timlin, Casey will be on the active roster.
To free up that spot for Casey, Dusty Brown was optioned to Triple A Pawtucket.
That leaves the Red Sox with 27 players on their roster, though they were allowed to have 28 while in Tokyo (including the three inactives).
