Colon exits before end of first inning

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff March 17, 2008 01:47 PM

TAMPA - The Yankees made Bartolo Colon's second start a horrible ordeal.

The comebacking righty didn't get out of the first inning, throwing 41 pitches, only 21 for strikes. He left after two outs after allowing three hits, three walks, four runs, while striking out two. He was relieved by Julian Tavarez.

Colon started the game by striking out Johnny Damon. It went downhill from there.

We'll get Terry Francona's reaction later.
