Delcarmen injured, leaves game

Posted by Nick Cafardo, Globe Staff March 14, 2008 03:17 PM

FORT MYERS, Fla -- Manny Delcarmen has just left the game walking gingerely off the field with the trainer and replaced by Craig Breslow here in the seventh.

The ground was wet as a result of the rain that's falling. Delcarmen went to reach for a ball and then made a throw to second and came up a bit lame. We'll know more in a while. The tarp has now come out and play has been stopped as the rain picks up.

Delcarmen is a key part of the Sox bullpen, so any injury as a result of a slick field, would be ill-timed.
