J.D. Drew was not in the lineup tonight and may sit the weekend with lower back pain, manager Terry Francona said, although Francona said he was still hopeful Drew might get an at-bat or two against the Dodgers during the three-game set.

The plan tonight is for Bartolo Colon to throw 60 to 75 pitches.

Here's the lineup:

Dustin Pedroia, 2B
Jason Varitek, C
David Ortiz, DH
Manny Ramirez, LF
Mike Lowell, 3B
Kevin Youkilis, 1B
Jacoby Ellsbury, RF
Coco Crisp, CF
Julio Lugo, SS

Even though the game is in a National League Park, the teams will be using a DH, as Dodgers manager Joe Torre gave his consent to the Sox employing one.

Varitek was slid into the No. 2 slot to get an extra at-bat.

The Sox planned to make a decision soon on whether Mike Timlin will be on the 25-man actve roster when it is finalized by Sunday midnight. Timlin had stitches in his right ring finger; if he is placed on the DL, it will be a retroactive situation, like Josh Beckett's, meaning Timlin will be activated in time to pitch in Toronto next weekend.

The last roster decision facing the Sox is the 12th man on the pitching staff. There are three players vying for that spot: holdover lefty Javier Lopez and right-handers Bryan Corey and David Aardsma. The Sox won't have to make a decision until the end of the week if both Timlin and Beckett are on the DL.
