Future of Moss

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff March 26, 2008 06:01 AM

So Brandon Moss had quite a season debut last night.

Not too shabby.

But unless J.D. Drew's injury ends up keeping him out of the lineup for a significant amount of time, it appears unlikely that Moss will make the roster. He looks bound for Triple A and a date with the first base bag.

Terry Francona's analysis: "Mostly in the corner. Could fill-in in center. And first base is still a little bit of a project right now. We played him there in spring training and I think the thought is in Triple A at some point to play him there more, because he can go to the outfield. But getting comfortable at first base is still something we're working on. If we lost a game in spring training we didn't care because it's worth the development. But here, when these games count, that's a little different story."
