Gushing water

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff March 7, 2008 12:50 PM

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- It looks like there might be a slight delay at the start of today's game. The field has seemed to have sprung a leak. All of a sudden water started bubbling up behind the pitcher's mound, creating a pooling of water. The players all seemed a bit confused.

The grounds crew has come out with brushes and shovels, and is trying to dry off the mound before Clay Buchholz takes the hill.

It was a like an oil well, bubbling up out of the turf. Odd.

  1. Why is that odd. A problem with the sprinkler.

WHy do you give us usless information whle you are in Florida? Is it that boring down there? I am so sick of hearing comments about batting practce, how Ortiz hit ball hard in BP and how other players are playing catch. You people sound like you never played a sport in yur life.

Wrong. It's not useless, it's context for the rest of the season. I check this blog several times a day because I enjoy reading about the Sox, and I like Amalie's reporting. I bet I'm not alone.

  1. Hey O, you do realize this is spring training right? There's not exactly a whole lot of anything going on (other than some wacky weather here the past couple days and it looks like there are just some white puffy clouds for now for the Sox-O's game)

I love the "off the beat" info we get during spring training, it keeps things lite, it's not like we're in September a half game up on the Yanks with them coming into town for 4

  1. Wow,someone got up on the wrong side of bed. I don't mind seeing the little tidbits of extra info. That is the benefit of a blog, and I have played sports.

  1. Not a sprinkler....the quick cuppler that the ground crew uses to wet down the Infield dirt.
It's Odd for people that live in a bubble.
