Lester out

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff March 1, 2008 01:58 PM

Jon Lester couldn't get an out in the second inning, while throwing 44 pitches. He was removed four batters into the inning, after walking No. 9 hitter Alexi Casilla with the bases loaded to bring the score to 3-2, Red Sox.

Lester threw just 20 strikes over his nine batters of work.

In the second inning, he allowed a double by Mike Lamb, walked Matt Macri, before Garrett Jones reached on a fielder's choice, E3, when Sean Casey attempted to get the out at second base. Casilla then walked, to knock in a run and knock Lester out.

Michael Tejera is now in.
