FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Bartolo Colon is in the outfield here at City of Palms, playing catch with John Farrell as he prepares for his first session off the mound in about 20 minutes. At 10 o'clock, the Sox have a B game here against the Twins, while later today, the Sox will be in Jupiter to play a regularly scheduled exhibition against the Marlins.

Josh Beckett, Mike Timlin, David Aardsma, Edgar Martinez, Michael Bowden and Hunter Jones are scheduled to pitch against the Twins. Sean Casey will lead off and play first and Jason Varitek will bat second for bench coach Brad Mills.

Over in Jupiter, Kyle Snyder opens his bid to be considered for the fifth starter's spot. Dan Kolb, Lee Gronkiewicz and Justin Masterson are also scheduled for the Sox. Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis and Jacoby Ellsbury all made the bus ride to Jupiter, with Terry Francona.
