Moss to Pawtucket

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff March 26, 2008 09:40 AM

So much for those heroics in the opener...

The Red Sox optioned Brandon Moss to Pawtucket after tonight's game, where he'll work on improving his defense at first base. Moss hit a game-tying single and a game-tying home run, the latter coming in the ninth inning of Tuesday's game, in place of J.D. Drew in the lineup and in right field.

The move indicates that Drew will likely not be out for long as the team now has just four outfielders on the roster: Manny Ramirez, Coco Crisp, Jacoby Ellsbury, and Drew. (Bobby Kielty is not on the roster, though he was in Japan.)
