No respect!

Posted by Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff March 26, 2008 08:20 AM

As if it weren't bad enough for the A's out here in Tokyo, where they have played second fiddle the entire trip, the Oakland flag just fell off the roof at the Tokyo Dome.

Out in centerfield, where there is an American flag, a Japanese flag, an MLB flag, and flags representing each of the teams, the Oakland version just tumbled to the warning track. One of the workers had to run all the way out to center to retrieve the flag.

Not much has focused on the A's since they arrived.

The good news for them? They're still winning tonight. So far...

  1. Here's the respect trump card the A's have going for them -- How about being the home team (as far as I know, arbitrarily chosen... or did they flip a coin?) in both games -- only to follow up with more home games against the Sox? Nice for them. That's some respect. We may be playing Sweet Caroline, but as defending Champs, we sure as heck didn't get any Champ-perks when it comes to in-game respect. They could play the Macarena for all I care, I'd take last up any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
    Japan - 2 exhibition, 2 in-season (away team)
    LA - 3 exhibition
Oakland - back to in-season (away again)

  1. They were games taken from Oakland's home schedule. They will play 79 games this year in Oakland instead of 81. There is no way the Red Sox would have given up any home games at Fenway, so the Sox will still play 81 at Fenway.
